Walk
Does this kid ever sit still? Ha!
These photos were taken outside of swim practice. Will was inside swimming like a fish and Mikey and I were outside walking and walking and walking some more.
Yesterday, I showed you that walking is still an important part of Mikey’s day, but if you are new to parenting a special needs child, I want you to know one more thing.
This was all we could manage on this day. There were lots of days when I could not even manage this. Yet, Mikey has grown up safe and sound. He is happy kid who enjoys his life. On this day, I gave what I could give, even if it wasn’t much.
Just as he does now, that day he took every chance to be silly! We had fun and got some fresh air and exercise. We called it a win and called it a day.

She holds a BA in Psychology from Colgate University and a Masters of Psychology in Education from Columbia Teacher’s College. Before staying home with her children, she worked as an elementary school teacher. For five years, she served on the Board of Directors of the Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs. In partnership with her husband Dave, she aspires to parent by using daily life as an opportunity for therapeutic intervention, seizing on real experiences as opportunities to build skills and strategies for Michael in a joyful, loving home environment. On the tougher early days, she just tried to get everyone safely to bedtime and start fresh in the morning. *wink*
