Veterans Day

In this Pack Meeting, we celebrated Veterans Day by thanking our troops.

We had a Cub Scout pack meeting about once a month. They were all the scouts in our small town in one place. If this is too much for your child, just speak with your den leader. I’d think they’d be fine with you skipping this part of the scout experience. As for Mikey, he usually really liked it and Will was going anyway, so we usually went.

Mikey's Journal entry from November 11, 2013. The cub scouts made cards and packages for the troops. Photos of the boys writing and coloring their cards.
One of my favorite things about cub scouts is the patriotism it instills.

At this meeting, we honored Veterans Day with cards and packages for the troops. I loved the service aspect of Cub Scouts as well as the patriotism. Overall, anything positive for ourselves, our mood, our country…and I’m a fan! Growing up is hard enough without adding so much angst to everything.

As I write this, I know there are families currently raising special needs children while one parent serves in the military. I am so moved by the heroism and sacrifice I know this must take and I am in awe of these families. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service and sacrifice. Happy Veterans Day and May God Bless America.
