Upcoming Vacation
Over the past several years, we have been going to the same beach house for our summer vacation. In August, we will get to go again for the last time. I am feeling deeply grateful for the time we spent there with family and friends. And, to be honest, after showing the house, packing and prepping to move, I’m ready for a break.

Mikey’s been enjoying the pool more and more!
And he genuinely seems to feel at home there. The irony of this is not lost on me. Although our buddy will need to get used to a vacationing in different spots, his daily life will have much more structure and predictability to give his life balance.
So, we’re going to enjoy our vacation and then keep calm and settle into our new home in the fall.

Erica Mauro is a mom to two teenage boys, Will who is neurotypical and Michael with Autism and cognitive delays. She holds a BA in Psychology from Colgate University and a Masters of Psychology in Education from Columbia Teacher’s College. Before staying home with her children, she worked as an elementary school teacher. For five years, she served on the Board of Directors of the Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs. In partnership with her husband Dave, she aspires to parent by using daily life as an opportunity for therapeutic intervention, seizing on real experiences as opportunities to build skills and strategies for Michael in a joyful, loving home environment. On the tougher early days, she just tried to get everyone safely to bedtime and start fresh in the morning. *wink*
