Turbo

Close up of the turbo color-by numbers.
Movie theme days make Mikey the happiest!

By now, you can probably guess that if we went to the movies, we did some activities related to the movie. And, I bet you might also guess that one of those activities was a color-by-number and one was putting some theme-related stickers on Mikey’s journal page.

Journal entry for August 26, 2013. We saw turbo. Lots of racing stickers applied by Mikey.
Another movie theme day!

Here’s the thing.  Mikey’s journal is a real record of his days and the journal wasn’t created for the blog. The blog was created from the journal.

So, although some of his entries may seem similar, I will try to bring a fresh take to each one so that while Mikey got what he needed with repetition and predictability, we can still glean something new from each of his entries.

A Turbo Color by Number, colored in by Michael.
A turbo color-by-numbers, of course!

In this case, I turn to the movie itself for my take-away for today. By way of introduction, Turbo is a movie about a snail who dreams of going fast and by a freak accident is granted the power of speed…and the chance to win the Indianapolis 500.

At one point in the movie, Turbo’s friend Chet asks him, “What happens if you wake up tomorrow, and your powers are gone? Hm? What then?”

Turbo replies, “Then I better make the most of today.”

So, I’m just going to keep trying to make the most of each day, while still providing my buddy with the predictability that makes him feel at ease.
