The Train

In the past, I have written about Michael’s routine of going to see the train. Here’s a link if you’ve missed those posts.
Usually, Mikey wears his ear defender headphones to make it more comfortable as the train wooshes by and blares its horn…but recently, he forgot his headphones. I gave him a chance to write about this experience and I was surprised.

He didn’t even mention it! He plugged his ears at the loudest moments, but when he thought back on the experience, he didn’t complain about the noise! The joy of seeing the train was enough to help him tolerate the discomfort.
Every day, even two decades into parenting this amazing human, I learn something new about my buddy. This experience reminded me to continue to let him try new things…or familiar things in an unfamiliar way…he can handle it!
