The Doctor

Every year (at least), you’ll be showing up for a doctor’s appointment. If you take your child to the annual physical this year and you feel frustrated or you think you’re not being heard, look for an alternative. You’re working hard to get answers for your child, and you need a partner in that quest. You and your child deserve that!

Local Facebook Groups
This is a great use of local Facebook groups for parents of kids with special needs. If you feel comfortable, share some of your child’s needs and ask for parents to recommend docs that have been helpful. Often, you’ll notice one or two doctors who keep getting mentioned – those are the great ones! Call and see if they have availability for new patients. I wish you a fulfilling doctor, patient, parent relationship!!
Here’s my most comprehensive post on doctor’s appointments. It’s chock-full of great ideas, if I do say so myself.
