Star Wars Day

May the 4th be with you logo, Star Wars characters and Will and Mikey holding their balloon.
May the Force be with you, young Jedi!

May 4th is Star Wars Day because, are you ready for it? “May the 4th be with you!” That just never gets old.

journal entry may 4 2014. Mikey's hands with temporary Star Wars tattoos and the boys holding a Star Wars balloon and eating some Wookie cookies.
Just so fun!!

You know I love a good theme day and this one was a lot of fun.  We did temporary tattoos, got a big balloon and party blowers. We even baked cookies from the Star Wars Cookbook.

They were called Wookie cookies, but they were just a delicious twist on chocolate chip cookies. This is still our go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe!

page 2 of journal entry May 4 2014. photos of Mikey blowing a party blower with Darth Vader on it and holding a Star Wars balloon.
Darth vader party blowers definitely make him a little less scary.

I think there is value in appreciating the things your kids are passionate about. I think they feel loved and supported when their grown-ups show interest in the stuff they love. Maybe more importantly, when we listen to them about the little things, they learn to feel safe to tell us about the bigger things.

In all your parenting, Star Wars Day or not, may the Force be with you!
