Snow Much Fun

I can’t help but think that Mikey looks like the little brother in A Christmas Story…he was securely bundled for his fun in the snow! LOL, poor kid.

At this insanely hectic time of year, I hope this entry will prove as a reminder that it doesn’t really take much to make kids happy. In this case, some warm winter clothing and a patch of backyard big enough to plop down to enjoy!
At this age, Mikey started to expand his snow fun, but up until about second grade, he mostly just liked to sit outside and eat the snow. I think you can see the snow on his snowsuit. He dropped that while shoving big handfuls of snow into his mouth. I’d just find a clean patch and let him have at it. I’m not sure if that’s doctor recommended, but Mikey never got sick from his snow snacks.
As we move ahead with Mikey’s journals, you’ll see him constructing igloos, sledding, building snowmen and making snow angels. I just kept exposing him to different ideas and over time, he tried many of them.
Side Note:
There are also many adaptive ski programs across the country. Some are low cost or can be subsidized by charitable organizations near you. If you think your child might like skiing, give it a quick google search and see what is available near you.
