Relax, Nothing is Under Control

Our quote for this installment of Wednesday Wisdom comes from Dick Van Dyke, because really, how much more fun and positive can we get?
Uncertainty in parenting can come with a feeling of dread. We worry about how things will turn out because we can’t picture the happy ending. If we are going to bring a positive perspective to our interactions with our kids, we need to acknowledge that we don’t have all the answers and instead, embrace the possibilities.

The Possibilities
It is possible that there is a beautiful life ahead for your child.
It is possible that you will help them find a community of people who help you support and care for them.
It is possible that your child will find meaningful employment.
It is possible that your child may be a part of a cub scout troop, an art class, a sports team, a club at school.
It is possible that you will be amazed at the progress your child will make.
It is possible that your child will touch hearts and make the world a better place.
But, Nothing is Under Control
It is true that nothing is, technically speaking, under control, but the future might still be pretty great! Let’s approach today with “humility, openness, acceptance, forgiveness and an eagerness to learn” and see where those good things take us.
