Races
On every TV show with children and parents, there is a scene in which the kids race by and one or both of the parents say, “No running in the house!” This scene has never played out in my home.
My kids grew up in the age of TV AND video games AND computers AND iPads. If they were moving, I was happy. Run all you want, kids!
In our house, we have hardwood floors downstairs (they’re easier to keep clean with pets and kids than carpet). So, as my crazy kids raced by, Dave or I would yell, “Take your socks off!” That way, no one would slip and hurt themselves. Running encouraged! Slipping, falling, pain and drama discouraged.
