Pumpkin Bread

So much fun! Love the Angry Birds tee shirt, Mikey!

If you asked my kids to name their Top 10 favorite foods made by Mom, pumpkin bread (or pumpkin muffins, same recipe) would be right at the top!  It might be one of the few that makes Will’s list and Mikey’s list.  Add to this the fact that Will has never really been a cereal kid  – so we often had some pumpkin bread around to have with busy weekday breakfasts.

Mikey's journal entry from December 8, 2014. "I made pumpkin bread with my mom." Mikey standing by the mixer and the pumpkin bread batter in the loaf pans ready to go in the oven.
Don’t let your child stand next to the mixer until they understand not to put their hands in while it is on.

If I was making it, the kids were usually helping.  They loved being in the kitchen and we had fun cooking and baking together.

One Note

Don’t feel like every cooking experience needs to be new and exciting…if your kids eat muffins all the time, they can help bake the muffins all the time…such is life.  There’s no need to make extra work, just teach them the skills they need to make the stuff they eat.
