Power Nap

Title Power Nap, huge dog print sticker and Sonny, our black lab, taking a quick nap in front of his toy basket.
Okay, not the dog...you.

Every week, I read a newsletter from a personal trainer named Dan Go.  I feel like personal trainer doesn’t really capture all of what he does. The newsletter I read is called 4-minute Fridays and, true to its title, you can read it in 4 minutes! It contains health information that I have found to be reliable and helpful.

So, I was positively thrilled when I read the following. A study was done on people who take 20-minute power naps compared to people who did not. Here’s what they found!

Great News!

“They found that regular daytime nappers have brains biologically younger by 2.6 to 6.5 years compared to non-nappers. Most importantly, the nappers were able to avoid age-related brain shrinkage.”

Since our whole goal is to live as long as we can and stay in good mental shape for as long as we can, we want to avoid brain shrinkage for sure.  I feel like everyone would want this! And, as parents of special needs kiddos, we’re always sleep deprived! So, if you can swing it, take the 20-minute power nap.  It really is good for you!
