Patriotic Books
I know you’ll be looking for summer reading for your kids, so my timely tip on this Tuesday is to grab a few patriotic books from the library. Stormy days in the summer can feel L-O-N-G. When you’re trapped in the house, think about maybe doing a USA theme day. This can be especially fun leading up to the Fourth of July. If your kids learn a little bit more about Independence Day, they might be more open to attending a local celebration or watching the fireworks on TV.
Here are a couple that we love but ask your local librarian – they always have great ideas!

Erica Mauro is a mom to two teenage boys, Will who is neurotypical and Michael with Autism and cognitive delays. She holds a BA in Psychology from Colgate University and a Masters of Psychology in Education from Columbia Teacher’s College. Before staying home with her children, she worked as an elementary school teacher. For five years, she served on the Board of Directors of the Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs.
