Parcheesi

I have written about the fact that we played board games a lot. In the link below, I’ve included my original board game post as well as a post sharing that parcheesi wasn’t Mikey’s favorite game. Sorry, Pal…we can only play so much Uno and Jenga. Click the link below if you’re interested in the background.
Today’s Entry

When Mimi came to visit, there were always board games. Last time, Mikey wrote that he decided not to play parcheesi with the group, but this time when they asked him, he said yes! I played on his team to help with some of the more complex aspects of the game and everyone was happy and included. Pop wasn’t a big board game guy so he usually took the opportunity to grab a quick nap during the game. Wink.

Journaling Tip
Mikey wrote his sentence within his capabilities, explaining that they played a game. I wrote parcheesi, because although Mikey can roll the dice and move the pieces for parcheesi, naming the game was out of his reach. I labeled it so his classmates would know what it was, even if they didn’t have that game at home. Sometimes a little bit more information included in the journal can expand conversation when your child shares it at school.
