Our People

Before Dave and I got married, we lived in Boston for about a year. Dave had lived there already, and I packed up my Yankees hat and moved there from New York to be with him. While I was there, I got to know many of Dave’s friends, and many of them became my friends too.

These Boston friends were so easy to host (and still are). We all get along well. We can be relaxed and have lots of fun together.
One special gift has been that their daughter, who is Will’s age almost to the day, is amazing with Mikey. She is one of those incredible souls who just gets it. Mikey can sense it, and he adores her. The rest of the family is great with Mikey also!
For families of kids with special needs, this makes all the difference! I can relax more. Dave can feel at ease and Will doesn’t feel like he needs to be explaining or making excuses for Mikey’s behavior. We all take a collective deep breath.
These friends have seen Mikey at his most challenging and been supportive and caring. They have seen him at his best and celebrated with him. They truly are our people.
