Opening Ceremonies

stylized photo of a baseball field with stands in the background and the title Opening Ceremonies in white

Our local Boys and Girls Club held opening ceremonies each spring at the start of baseball season. This was a low-risk event for us. Here’s what I mean. It was held outside and included people of all ages, so it was not an event at which silence was important. The snack shack was open so there would be fun food for sale. We could sit at the back for easy escape if Mikey decided he wasn’t into it.

Furthermore, it was a high-reward event for us. Our family got to see Challenger baseball recognized. We got to celebrate the other kids and coaches in our town who make up all of our baseball teams. We got to be part of our broader community.  So, of course, we opted in and Mikey shared it in his Weekend Share to let his classmates know he’d be there.

journal: writing on lined paper only. This weekend, we are going to the Opening Ceremonies for Baseball at the Boys and Girls Club. Then added: It was postponed, but…I watched golf.

And then it got rained out. Oh well…we tried.
