I broke this journal entry up among several posts throughout the month.  That’s why you’ll see some posts in May that only have a photo with a caption instead of a full sentence written by Mikey.

Will tickling Mikey’s side while Mikey laughs, TICKLE FIGHT written in all caps

The tickle fight is a habit that has died hard for Mikey…to the point where, on a recent visit home, he asked Will for a tickle fight even though they have been outlawed in our house for almost a decade. For a post on why we have moved on from tickle fights, click the link below.

The tickle fight will have to live in the journal memories alone…it’s definitely not coming back. Wink.

Erica Mauro is a mom to two teenage boys, Will who is neurotypical and Michael with Autism and cognitive delays. She holds a BA in Psychology from Colgate University and a Masters of Psychology in Education from Columbia Teacher’s College. Before staying home with her children, she worked as an elementary school teacher. For five years, she served on the Board of Directors of the Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs. In partnership with her husband Dave, she aspires to parent by using daily life as an opportunity for therapeutic intervention, seizing on real experiences as opportunities to build skills and strategies for Michael in a joyful, loving home environment.
