National Brown Bag It Day!

This Manic Monday happens to fall on a busy parent’s favorite day of the year: National Brown Bag It Day. And I am here to help you embrace the beauty of this approach to dinner, not just tonight, but any night you need it.
In a pinch, you can grab a few things from the fridge and make up a quick bag for each member of the family. You could eat your dinner right at home or take it to baseball practice or dance lessons. You could throw a blanket down outside and eat together, picnic style.
And, just because you’re getting a night off from the dishes, doesn’t mean your kids need to eat junk. Some of Mikey’s favorite brown bag dinner items include beef jerky, baby carrots, yellow or red peppers, freeze dried fruits, yogurt, cheese sticks, apples or clementines. My only tip is to fill the bags enough that they won’t be hungry again in ten minutes.
On Walmart.com, you can get 50 giant brown lunch bags for under $3. Then you’ll always be able to declare a Brown Bag It Day whenever you feel like it. After all, you’re in charge around here. Wink.
