NASCAR

I grew up in the Northeast. I was an only child and I lived with my mom. Our house sometimes had golf or football on in the background, but I never really watched sports much when I was young. This is all to say that in our 100% female household, NASCAR was not a thing. I really didn’t know much about it. In fact, before the Pixar movie Cars came out, I never really gave racing much thought.
Then, I ran into a friend around this time last year and we got to chatting. I asked what they were up to over the weekend, and she mentioned that her son loves watching car races on TV and I could not believe I hadn’t thought of that for Mikey! So, we gave it a try.

He was locked in! He loved watching the cars whiz by. The vivid colors and the excitement of the race was right up his alley. I don’t know if we will ever expand to attending a race in person (seems like they might not make headphones big enough for that endeavor), but we’ll be tuning in to the NASCAR Events this year.
Neither Mikey nor I will have any clue what is going on. We have no understanding of the rules or the strategy behind racing, but we’re going to have fun watching and maybe we’ll learn something.
Full Disclosure
We’ll probably just keep rooting for the m&m car and use it as an excuse to throw some m&ms in our popcorn. We’re all about the fun snacks!
