Music Therapy

During middle school, Miss M came to school once a week to do music therapy with the kids. She was a loving presence. Mikey, already a music lover, enjoyed being with Miss M each week and his classmates in the special ed room. They played music and sang songs.

Lots of times, Mikey would be able to show us phrases from his iPad that he had used with Miss M. If your child has an iPad for speech, you can check out their ‘recent phrases’ to see what they said at school that day. It can help you get a sense of how their day went.
In our case, it allowed us to tell that Mikey loved being with Miss M. So, when his teacher sent home a photo, we helped Mikey create a journal entry to let his teachers know that he shares his love of music and Miss M with his parents at home. I know they showed it to Miss M too and I hope it made her heart happy.
Communication loop complete.
