Making Plans

stylized overlapping photos of Mikey’s talking iPad screens with proloquo2go and one photo of Mikey looking down at his iPad pushing buttons. An arrow added with the title PLANNING in multicolors

We sat together to talk about Spring break. I asked Mikey what he wanted to do over the break and he gave me some good ideas. He wanted to go to the aquarium and to sky zone, the indoor trampoline park near us.

journal entry: April 13. “We are making plans for Spring Break!” one photo of the iPad screen with the phrase ‘I want to go to sky zone.’ One iPad screen with the sentences, ‘I want to go to the aquarium. The otters are my favorite!’ One photo of Mikey smiling looking down at his talking iPad.
These sentences were pre-programmed for Michael at this point in his development. If he pushed one button, the full sentence came up.

Planning together let Mikey have input, practice conversation and prepare for the upcoming school break. Win, win, win.
