Made for More

Recently, Joanna Gaines shared a post on her Facebook page. She beautifully reflects on the feelings parents have as they drop their typical kids off at college.

This brought back memories of how I felt leaving Will at college. It made me realize that some people may need to hear that I feel the same way about our special needs son Michael.
He was made for us. We were made for him.
And
His purpose on this Earth is bigger than just being my son, Dave’s son, and Will’s brother. He has so much to offer, and I am so happy that he is getting ready to broaden his horizons. I am glad that his life holds the promise of something bigger and more exciting than life at home with mom and dad.
For both of my boys, I want more. “More experiences, more knowledge and more growing than could ever happen within our walls.”
So, for me…I’ll hold them close in my heart and let them spread their wings. I’ll always be here if they need me.
