Hoping for Snow

Snow day sticker with stylized versions of Mikey's snowman artwork.
Is there a more universally understood feeling than wishing for a snow day? No way!

There are a million ways that Will makes our family better.  He’s a funny, loving, charming guy.  He’s protective of his brother and he’s thoughtful of others when we’re in public as a family. But I had forgotten about this particular gift he gave us. It’s is a good one…read on, my friends.

journal entry from January 30, 2015. "I hope we get a snow day. All my good luck charms are out and my mom read me Snowmen at Night." photos of snowmen all over our house, snowman artwork and the cover of the book Snowmen at Night.
Will led the charge and we went all-in rooting for a snow day!! Note: Mikey often wrote his journal entries the night before and put the date of the school day on which he would share it…Thursday night, we were rooting for a Friday snow day.

If Mikey had been an only child, I probably would not even have mentioned the possibility of snow.  I would have thought that it was better to just handle any schedule change as it came, rather than talk about a chance of no school if he might actually need to go.

But, boy, was I wrong!

Will was talking about the possibility of a snow day, so we played it up. We put out our good luck charms, hoping for a Friday snow day (aren’t Friday snow days the best?!?)!  I can’t remember if we were successful in our efforts, but even if we weren’t…it was great fun anyway!  And if Mikey did need to go to school that day, I know his classmates would have seen this journal entry and shouted, “me too” in unison!

Wishing you all a good snow day or two in your future…remember to put out your good luck charms!
