Happy Birthday, Sonny!

Today, our black lab Sonny turns 6! He is really the baby of our family…Mikey is totally okay with it. He and Sonny adore each other.

Each year on my personal facebook page, I share Sonny’s birthday wisdom for that year. I’ll catch you up.
Year 1 (2018): Life’s biggest storms leave behind the best sticks.
Year 2 (2019): Be good, but not too good. A day lived with a good heart and a little mischief is the best kind of day.
Year 3 (2020): Quarantine may be tough on the humans, but dogs dig it!
Year 4 (2021): Find your tribe and love them with abandon.
Year 5 (2022): A tired dog is a good dog, but tired humans get testy.
Year 6 (2023): With great cuteness comes absolutely no responsibility.

I tease, but really…our dogs have done many important jobs for us over the years. Max used to lie with Will while he fell asleep at night and then quietly get up and tap his paws on the wood floor to let us know Will was asleep and we could come get him. Max would never bark because he didn’t want to wake Will. We put Ruby to work at the start of the day.
Ten years ago today, Ruby-girl was busy letting Mikey know it was time to get up for school. All three of our family dogs have been happy to help us clean out the yogurt containers for recycling…they are nothing if not selfless.

Thank you, Mauro doggies! We love you! Happy Birthday, Sonny!
