Give What You Have

The summer is winding down. School jitters are ramping up. The to-do list seems like it grows every day, even though you’re busily crossing things off from dawn ‘till dusk.
None of their clothes fit; you’re not sure what time to head to school for ‘meet the teacher’. You feel pressure to squeeze in one more fun summer thing but there is so much to do. You’re thinking, “Do I even have any school lunch foods in the house?” What time does the bus come? Will my kids have a good year? It is off-the-charts chaotic.

This installment of Wednesday Wisdom is from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and is often associated with the idea of generosity. Can we reframe our parenting as a generous gesture? When we don’t have a ton of gas left in the tank and we have a million things we need to do, can we find space for our little ones?
Kids are so resilient and loving, they just want some of our time. Give whatever you can in these last days of summer. To your little ones, it might mean more than you dare to think. Start the school year off with some quality parent-time to give them the confidence they need to make it a great one!
