Fun Size

pez distender themed decoder activity sheet. Elf pez dispensers labeled 108 with spaces for 1-3 letters below each one. Mikey filled in the message HO-LI-DAY-FUN-AT-P-E-Z.
HOLIDAY FUN AT PEZ!! And for the Christmas Story fans, "Don't forget to drink your Ovaltine." wink.

For our special kiddos, sometimes bigger isn’t better.  Very popular places that are huge and loud and crowded may be too much.  Finding smaller, interesting places that were off the beaten path was a strategy that often worked for us.  Enter the Pez Factory in Orange, CT.

journal entry. "We went to the Pez Factory with my friend S and her family. The group posed for a photo with their admissions tickets on lanyards, faces of friends obscured with a mickey pez dispenser and a goofy pez dispenser. Photo of mikey smiling in front of a Christmas tree decorated with pez dispensers.
We took the pez dispenser Christmas tree as inspiration…more on that tomorrow.

We went with a group of friends and it was not crowded with people, but packed with fun Pez dispensers!  There was a window into a factory area, and a fun scavenger hunt to decode a secret message.

Hidden Elf Hunt card - same as featured photo, plus a close up of Mikey's Pez Visitor Center badge.
Mikey had fun searching for the hidden message codes and filling in his Hidden Elf Hunt card.

This was the perfect balance for Mikey.  I might call it “chill excitement” – not to overwhelming and not boring at all…this activity gets the Goldilocks seal of approval. It was just right.

More tomorrow on how we extended the fun!
