Frog!

stylized photo of a 3D printed frog with information about our town fair, The Frog Frolic, cartoon frog and green hearts.

Frog Frolic is our town library’s annual country fair-style fundraiser. These 3-D printed frogs were placed around town the week beforehand to generate excitement around the event for the kids.

journal entry for May 1. "Look what I found!"photo of the frog with a crown "I am excited for Frog Frolic." Caption added by mom "it was at the RCC window where you sign up for camp."

Mikey likely included it in his journal because he was excited to find one, but…

Including this in his journal let his pals know that he was heading to Frog Frolic that weekend. They could look for him when they got there or ask their moms to call me and see if they could tag along with our family.  The journal was helping Mikey to do what other kids could do verbally, make plans for the weekend.

Anticipate Questions

I thought about natural questions that might come up.  For example, “Where did you find it?” Then, I added a caption to answer that question. It is something that would be hard for Mikey to answer spontaneously, so it made sense for me to put it in his journal for him.
