First Day!

We celebrate the first day of school in our house. Not only because I used to be a teacher and I think school years are exciting and fun, and not because I was happy to be sending them back as a stay-at-home mom (which I sometimes was).
Here’s the thinking. Our kids notice what we celebrate. We should be starting every school year off with the message that this is going to be great!

We took photos at the bus stop in the morning and we’d have a special dinner that night when the boys get home. We talk about their day and the new routines. Dave and I would ask if there was anything else Will needed (Mikey’s teachers would put that in the communication binder). We asked Mikey if he liked his new classroom.
Gathering together to start the new year off in style set the tone we wanted for the beginning of an exciting new adventure in learning!
