Father’s Day
Dads, we see you!
We know you get up early to spend time with the kids before work. We know you’re working to save money, so the kids are taken care of now and long after you are gone. We see their faces light up when you walk in the door and we hear their belly laughs when you play with them. We know how much you worry about them.
Being a dad is a tough job, especially when your kids have special needs. We know how stressed out you get and how hard you work to make sure the kids don’t see your worry.
We are sorry that we cannot guarantee that your special day will be totally stress-free, but we’ll try our best. We will try to give you a day that reflects how much we care about you.
We wish you a very happy Father’s Day, filled with love and fun!

Erica Mauro is a mom to two teenage boys, Will who is neurotypical and Michael with Autism and cognitive delays. She holds a BA in Psychology from Colgate University and a Masters of Psychology in Education from Columbia Teacher’s College. Before staying home with her children, she worked as an elementary school teacher. For five years, she served on the Board of Directors of the Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs. In partnership with her husband Dave, she aspires to parent by using daily life as an opportunity for therapeutic intervention, seizing on real experiences as opportunities to build skills and strategies for Michael in a joyful, loving home environment. On the tougher early days, she just tried to get everyone safely to bedtime and start fresh in the morning. *wink*
