Facing Challenges

Every year around this time, the US Open is played in New York. So, fittingly, our Wednesday Wisdom comes from tennis great, Arthur Ashe. A tennis legend for breaking the color barrier, Arthur Ashe also gained fame for his strong stand against Apartheid in South Africa and for founding the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health. This organization was dedicated to addressing inadequate health care in urban minority populations. He was surely a wise man who made a difference in the world around him.
So, when it comes to facing challenges, we can take his advice to heart.

In parenting, as in athletics and life, outcomes cannot be guaranteed. You can only start where you are. Try to address the challenges your family is facing with the tools you have at your disposal. Just show up for your kids every day and do what you can. You can’t do it ALL, but you can do your best to make progress.
