Easter Prep

bold colored easter eggs and mikey posing with his finished eggs in their cardboard container.
Mikey loved to dye eggs for Easter...he still does!

After the big adventures in our April break staycation, we needed a day at home.  We were pooped! This day was filled with lots of TV and a couple of fun activities to prepare for Easter. Actually, we were getting ready one day early because we celebrated our big family Easter on Saturday back in 2014.

Michael and Will dying eggs, the finished product, mikey baking cupcakes and the finished cupcakes with spring sprinkles and peeps on top.
Mikey wore disposable gloves for egg dying because it was easier for him to use his hands than the egg holder.

Outside

If I could share one parenting tip with the whole world, it would be this. “Don’t set yourself up to fail.” Life is hard enough without easter egg dye spilled all over your floor.  Set up messy crafts outside or in the garage where you will be able to relax. Put them in clothing you don’t care about and use disposable gloves if needed…then you’ll enjoy the experience with your kids and maybe even snap a photo or two.

Inside

Baking was always one of Mikey’s favorite activities. We baked a few extra so we could bring treats to share with our family for our Easter celebration. It would have been too hard for Mikey to bake the cupcakes and not eat one.  If we needed a certain number of treats and wouldn’t have extra, I used to just do the baking after Mikey had gone to bed. If you use this strategy, remember to hide them until the party!

Look how proud he looks! Love!
