Curious George

close up of the curious George book 'Curious George Visits the Library' Mikey smiling with a sticker of curious George floating away holding multicolored balloons and Curious George making a heart with his hands.

Mikey still enjoys sitting with me to read a book. He likes young elementary school and preschool level books. He can read lists and notes by himself, but he prefers to have someone read stories to him.

Mikey and Mom cuddled up reading Curious George, mikey with one finger in one ear.

Lots of the books we read are connected to characters Mikey watches on TV. He loves Curious George, Clifford, Arthur, and Bear in the Big Blue House. He has books about all of these characters and still enjoys reading them with us.

Books

Books based on TV characters (or books that inspired TV characters) allow our kids to get some help with their imagination. This may be something typical children find easier, but for our special kiddos, it is helpful to be able to picture the images in the book coming to life when they already have those moving images from TV.

The books allow us to interject with questions or comments. We can talk with our kids about what we see in the pictures or mention when we find something funny. Books allow us to cuddle up with our children and share an experience together.

Priceless. Wink.
