College Football Championship

2015 college football playoff logo, football, photos of Mikey holding Ducks signs, the Oregon helmet and the Ohio State logo
At-home fun for the whole family.

This year, the College Football Championship will be next Monday, but a decade ago, when Mikey wrote his journal entry, the big game was a week earlier.

journal entry from Jan 13, 2015. "I got to stay up late to watch the college football championship. Let's go Ducks! Note from mom M didn't stay up until the end, but Ohio State won." Photos of Mikey smiling holding his Ducks signs.
I know I’m biased, but he’s just adorable!

We weren’t fans of either team. In fact, I didn’t know much about college football at all in those days (although Dave did).  We made some football snacks, printed some signs and settled in for the fun.  We picked a team to root for because that’s how we roll, and we all rooted for the same team, so we’d all be in it together.  I think the Ducks logo was just more appealing to the boys than the Buckeye.  Sorry, Ohio State fans…but you did end up getting the win so that should be good enough.

The Big Lesson

You don’t need to be an expert on an activity to make it fun. You don’t need to have the expensive merch to make it fun. You don’t need much of anything except a festive spirit and the goal of making memories together. If going out is tough for your child, find ways to make memories at home.  Take pictures like you would on a big adventure and enjoy looking back at them with your child.
