Challenge Accepted

Kids love a challenge! At this point in the summer, I had used lots of the tools in my parenting toolkit…so I fell back on an old favorite. Throw out a dare! At breakfast, I challenged my boys to see how long we could stay outside. Could we make it all day? The one exception was that we could come back inside if we needed to use the bathroom.
The Planning
The only thing I did to prepare for this big day outside aside from checking the weather was pack each of us a big bag of fun stuff. We each had a book or books, and lunch and snacks. The boys had toys in their bags too.
The Mauro boys are not ones to walk away from a challenge and they went upstairs, changed into their bathing suits and I slathered on their sunscreen. Out we went to let the adventure begin!

They really did stay outside all day. I should say that the weather was relatively moderate. The boys had access to shade, the pool and plenty of cool water to drink. That said, the entire day is still a long time outside. Dave grilled us some burgers and dogs and we even ate dinner outside!
And we all slept well that night. The End.
