Celebrating a New Journal

New Journal, decorated with minion duct tape. Sticker of a minion with his hands raised in celebration.
Hooray!! New Journal!!

Each time Mikey would finish a full journal of entries, we would grab a few new composition notebooks from the closet and Mikey would choose his next one. It was a time to celebrate the hard work that went into the old journal! It was also a chance to let Mikey choose his decorations for his new notebook.  Usually, I would have duct tape and stickers in a few different themes so he could make his choice.

It was a special time to sit together and create his book to hold his upcoming happy memories. I encouraged Mikey to share positive memories in his journal since he was bringing it to school each day to facilitate communication and relationship-building.

Keeping the journal positive also helps build a positive self-image and provides a happy experience when you look back at the journals together as a family and with friends.
