Built-In Down Day

stylized photos of Mikey coloring and playing with his ogosport disk.

Based on Mikey’s actual journal entry from ten years ago, I share a winning Saturday Suggestion: build in a down day over the holiday break. Schedule the downtime so that you know your child (and you) will have time to catch your breath during the busiest season of the year.

journal entry “we made a fire and played with all of our presents!” 9 photos: the fire, lego junior garbage truck, scratch off workbook, M blowing bubbles, M using his ipad while Will plays video games, lego helicopter, coloring, ogosport and one photo of Mikey walking on the treadmill.
Okay, the treadmill was not a gift, but Mikey was getting out his wiggles, which was a gift to me.

We built a fire, hunkered down and relaxed. I likely did not take a full day of relaxation. I probably used the day to get laundry or cleaning or dishes done, but for the most part, we were just chilling out…which was much needed during the most wonderful (and stressful) time of the year.
