Bronx Zoo 1

Graphic, A Day at the Zoo
Summer Fun!

I split this entry into two blog posts to talk about a couple of different things. Sometimes one day just has so much fun packed in, it’s tough to get it all down.

page 1 of Michael's 2 page journal entry on the zoo. Lots of photos of him looking at exhibits, with friends.
What a day! We saw a ton!

I grew up closer to the Bronx Zoo than we live right now, but it was such a big part of my childhood that it felt important for me to share that with our boys. I loved being there with them and seeing some of the same exhibits I had seen as a kid.  It made it feel special to me.

When I look at these photos, I remember that I used to sometimes have the boys wear matching brightly colored shirts when we went to a busy, crowded location.  In this case, we were with another family too which meant that one (or both) of the boys might be heading in different directions with a pal.  Great fun for them, but stressful if you’re the one responsible for making sure you have both kids back in the car at the end of the day.

Oh yeah, we’re not losing anybody in those shirts.

The matching bright shirts just let me focus a little more on the fun and less on worrying about where the kids were…I could always pick them out of the crowd.
