Book Club Party

School party for the Trumpet of the Swan book - one book, one school. Trumpet sticker and swan sticker.
Teachers know that hard work should be rewarded with a good party.

Mikey’s school started a program once a year reading one book together as a school community. The older kids, who were able, read the book on their own. The younger kids and kids with special needs may have had the book read to them. Then, they completed activities related to each chapter of the book.  The kids who turned in their literature guide at the end were invited to attend a book club party for The Trumpet of the Swan.

journal entry from June 7 2014. 'I went to school last night for a little while." Mom added, "We got a popcorn snack. I drew a trumpet on the mural."
I think the kids were invited to stay for a viewing of the movie Trumpet of the Swan, but Mikey just went for the first part of the party and decided not to stay for the movie.

For more information on this program and why I opted Mikey in, see the link below.* By opting him in and modifying the activities as needed (or leaving some out if they were not appropriate for him), we got Mikey a ticket to another fun social event. Reading for the win!
