Bingo!
In our town, Bingo Night was a PTA Fundraiser. Parents donated prizes and baked treats for a snack bar. Then, each family would buy some bingo cards, and the kids got to hang out in the school cafeteria and play Bingo on a weekend night. My memory is that most of the parents hung out while the kids played. Some volunteered at the snack bar or the prize table and others just sat with their kids. It was a chance for me to be there to support Mikey without sticking out like a sore thumb. Such a relief.
If your town doesn’t do a Bingo night, suggest it to your local PTA. It was inclusive and raised valuable funds for our school programs.

Erica Mauro is a mom to two teenage boys, Will who is neurotypical and Michael with Autism and cognitive delays. She holds a BA in Psychology from Colgate University and a Masters of Psychology in Education from Columbia Teacher’s College.
