Beach Day

Michael and Will enjoying the beach.
We really do love the beach!

This day was so fun!

Our whole family loves the beach and we spent the day together, enjoying the sunshine.

Michael's journal entry from August 10, 2013
Is there anything more summery than a beach day?

I packed beach toys, snacks and books because without incentive, Michael would stand in the water all day. At this age (and actually still) Dave or I needed to be standing with him. To allow ourselves to get a little rest, we took snack breaks and sat to build sand castles and read some books.  Still, most of the day was spent in the water…such a happy memory!

Safety Tips:

  • Set up near a lifeguard station so they are close in case of an emergency.
  • Use more sunscreen than you think you need…a child with sensory issues with a sunburn is not pretty.
  • Choose bathing suits and rash guards that are brightly colored (not blue) because they are easier for lifeguards to see if they need to dive under to look for your child.
