Bagel with Cream Cheese

photo of mikey putting cream cheese on his bagel, photo of Mikey taking a bite of his bagel, bagel life sticker and sticker of a stack of bagels

Mikey can toast his own bagel, use the tongs to get the hot bagel out, spread the cream cheese and smoosh the sides together to make a delicious breakfast or snack.

journal entry: I made my own bagel with cream cheese for breakfast. 4 photos of the step by step: gathering ingredients, toasting, using the tongs, spreading the cream cheese and eating the bagel

Our Schedule

Middle school started at around 8:30AM. For Mikey, that was pretty late. He is an early riser so often, if the night before was busy, Mikey would get up, get ready for school and then write a quick journal entry before he got on the bus.

A journal entry like this reinforces Mikey’s idea of himself as an independent person. He can do things on his own! That makes him feel proud and allows him the freedom to fix himself a meal whenever he is hungry.

Every step towards independence is meaningful. Slowly, safely, teach your child to do the things they need to do for themselves. You’ve got this!
