Back to Atlantis

handwritten and highlighted: Atlantis! photo of mikey in an inner tube, Dave and mikey walking on a wooden bridge with rope railings, our family posing with a sea lion, will and mikey posing in their swim trunks and rash guards.

When the boys were younger, Will used to talk about 2 vacations ALL THE TIME: The Great Barrier Reef and Atlantis.  The cost and flight length of a trip to Australia were prohibitive, but we wanted to make Atlantis happen.  We went as a family. We pet the sea lion and the dolphin.  We played on the water playground and swam in the pool.  We fed the rays and held starfish. It was a fantastic vacation. The whole family loved it!

So, when we got an opportunity to go back, we wanted to take my mom and step-dad with us so they could enjoy the fun too!  To prepare our buddy Mikey, we did a journal entry using his favorite photos from the last trip.

journal entry "I am really happy to go back to Atlantis!" photos: mikey and mom with a dolphin, mikey climbing the rope bridge on the water playground, mikey in a blue inner tube, will and mikey posing in their swim shirts, Dave and the boys walking through one of the aquarium tunnels, the family posing with a sea lion, mikey playing in the splash pool and going down a water slide.
Wow! This does look great. I’d be happy to be going back too!

Friday before Spring Break, all the kids will be asking, “What are you doing over break?” Mikey’s journal entry shares the exciting news about his trip with his pals. It also prepares him for what to expect over the next few days. The journal comes to the rescue again!
