Anything Can Be

Shel Silverstein is perfect for us, since he sees the world in such a unique way. He is fun and silly and insightful and he reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously.
The poem below was on our desks, the first day of English class (I think they called it Language Arts then) in 5th grade. In Mrs. L’s class, it was the actual page from the book, but we have superimposed the poem on one of Mikey’s beautiful watercolors…there really is a full spectrum of possibilities ahead for our kids.

Let this serve as a sweet reminder that we don’t need to spend any time predicting what our children won’t be able to do at some time in the future. Just keep loving them and helping them to build their skills. They will find a beautiful path.
