Animal Pancakes

Today’s journal entry reflects a typical day in our house when the boys were growing up. They usually spent some time together in the playroom.

Immediately upon seeing this entry, I was struck with the funniest memory. My mom used to use squeeze bottles with pancake batters to create animal-shaped pancakes for her grandkids. The reason we even had this book in the first place is that she felt the art would be easy to recreate in pancake form.

She used two different batters: whole wheat and plain. She did the outlines and the details in whole wheat and then she would fill in with the plain. When I was growing up, she did used to make me pancakes in the shapes of my initials, but for the grandkids, she took it to the next level. It was very impressive!
Cool creature creations! Way to go, Mimi!
