A Cold

It can sometimes be stressful when your child isn’t feeling well, but on this particular weekend, Mikey just had a mild cold. We were all going to be home anyway, and it was just an opportunity to give our buddy a little extra TLC.

Giving your child extra attention when they feel sick is an easy way to show them that you will be there for them when they need you. It helps build that bond of trust.
Comfort Items
When I think of any of the following items, I am brought back to childhood and feeling nurtured by my mom or my Nana Ru.
- Canada Dry ginger ale
- Cool wet washcloths
- Saltine crackers or sometimes oyster crackers if that was what my mom had on hand.
- Cuddling up under the covers
- Vicks VapoRub
- Luden’s cherry cough drops
- Pastina
- A spoonful of honey
- A personal box of tissues with a little garbage pail nearby
All these affordable items are forever linked in my mind with love and care. If you keep them in your linen closet, you’ll always have them ready to dole out the TLC when your little one needs it.
For ideas on how to plan for what to do if you become ill, here’s a post I hope will help.
