Fifties Day

Mikey is looking forward to rocking 50's Day!

This was a preview for Mikey’s classmates. 50’s day was coming up and I wanted him to try on his costume to make sure it was in fact something he would wear. When he did agree to put it on, I snapped a picture. He liked it so he chose to write about it in his journal.

journal entry for Wednesday, May 7. photo of mikey dressed as a greaser. "I am excited for 50's day. My costume is funny!"
I am just dying over the smile and the pose…go, Mikey!

This journal entry does double duty.  First, it shares that he is excited about 50’s Day to give him a topic around which to connect with his buddies. Then on 50’s day, if Mikey had decided not to wear his costume, I would have sent it with him in a bag.  Maybe then his friends might encourage him to put it on when he got there.

I should note. I truly would have been fine with whatever he decided.  There would definitely be other students who did not dress up on purpose or who forgot. I just wanted Mikey to have the option to participate.  When the time came, he opted in and had a fun day with friends.
